I am looking at the lake. I can see a line where the water touches the land. The character of the line changes with the time of day, the weather, and the pencil used. I draw the line that my eyes can see, but which doesn't exist. Je regarde le lac. Je vois une ligne oú l'eau touche la terre. Lorsque j'arrive à mon atelier, j'ai des gestes ritualisés; j'ai reproduit par le dessin les objets (un par jour) qui rentrent dans ce rituel:
Le porte manteaux pour y accrocher mon vêtement et prendre mon tablier, allumer la radio, qui est branchée sur mon "noeud de fils", ainsi que la bouilloire pour remplir la cafetière et ... au bout de mes heures de travail, prendre une pose dans mon fauteuil et en profiter pour regarder le paysage ... When I get to my studio, I follow a set of gestures, like a ritual. I have reproduced this by drawing objects (one per day) that fit into this ritual: The coatstand to hang my coat on and take my apron, turn on the radio, which is connected to my tangle of wires, as well as the kettle to fill the cafetière and ... at the end of my working hours, take a break in my armchair and take the opportunity to look at the landscape ...
